At Stone Ridge Animal Care on Evansville’s north side, our veterinarians have decades of training and experience delivering high quality, compassionate veterinary care for our patients. Our focus is caring for dogs, cats, and other small animals as well as small farm animals. These Evansville IN veterinarians are passionate about practicing veterinary medicine and understand that pets are members of your family and care for them accordingly.

DR. RH STONE III | DVM

Dr. Stone graduated from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After a year of practice with Dr. Don Cates and Dr. Bryan Helms at St. Joe Vet Clinic he returned to practice with his father Dr. Raymond Stone Jr. in Sturgis KY.

In 1999 he relocated to the North side of Evansville IN. There, he and his wife Linda Stone established Stone Ridge Equine Care, LLC. Dr. Stone has two daughters Dr. Lauren Stone, a local dentist, and Kailyn Stone, a student at Southern Illinois University. 


DR. BRYAN HELMS | DVM

A graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984, Dr. Helms enjoys a mixed practice of all types of animals, including beef, dairy, sheep, and goats. Utilizing more than 38 years of experience in the tri-state area he offers extensive knowledge in small animal medicine and surgery as well.

He and his wife Susan Helms have two daughters, Laura and Amanda. He is also a grandpa to two lovely granddaughters.


LINDA STONE | BUSINESS MANAGER

Linda graduated in 1983 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She met Dr. Stone while employed at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine as a Large Animal reproductive and embryo transfer tech. Linda returned to school to obtain her RN license in 1992 and worked in that field for several years, until relocating her family to Evansville IN to establish Stone Ridge Equine Care, LLC.

Her biggest joy has been serving as horse show mom for her daughter Lauren, now a local dentist and a soccer mom for daughter her other daughter Kailyn, a student at Southern Illinois University. 

Small Animal Clinic Staff

DR. LEIGHA JESSIE | DVM, MBA

Dr. Jessie is a native Tennessean who graduated from Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine and School of Business in 2020. She enjoys companion animal and small ruminant medicine and finds behavioral cases to be a welcome challenge for her.

A jack of all trades, Dr. Jessie loves hiking, drawing, crocheting, gardening, and reading. She also loves to travel and has been to a few different countries including South Africa where she got to work with various animals including lions, antelope, water buffalo, and rhinos. She has two fur-children that she adores: a border collie named Elsie and a Manx mix named Dawnea.


DR. BROOKE STALEY | DVM

Dr. Staley graduated in May from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine. At Auburn she participated in the Equine Emergency Surgery team. Dr. Staley specializes in equine and small animal care, and enjoys sports medicine.

Dr. Staley was a 4-H member for 10 years, her favorite event being dog agility. Since 2006, she has participated in Three-Day Eventing and hunter jumper shows with her horse, Jake. In her free time, Dr. Staley enjoys hiking with her two labs, Phoenix and Dove.


REBECCA WILLIS | OFFICE MANAGER

Rebecca joined the Stone Ridge Animal Care team in June of 2020 and has been working in veterinary medicine for over 10 years. She started working in the kennels as a veterinary assistant in high school. She graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in Business Management and has a Certificate of Veterinary Practice Management from Purdue University.

In her free time, Rebecca loves to watch movies, read and go hiking with her dogs. Rebecca is an avid cat lover and enjoys reading and studying cat behavior and husbandry. She is a Vincennes native where she currently resides with her five cats, Ned, Nora, Teagan, Hoppy, and Neko, and two dogs, Nitschke and Hutson. 


BROOKE VIRGIN | RVT

Brooke graduated with honors from the International Business College and Vet Tech Institute in 2021. She started working as a kennel assistant in high school where her love for animals grew. Brooke joined Stone Ridge Animal Care in 2020, her favorite things include educating pet owners on treatment plans, behavior changes, feeding, exercise and overall wellness for their animals.

When Brooke is not at the clinic she loves spending time with family, her 3 cats, Batman, Sid and Fred, along with her puppy, Dixie.


MACKENZIE SANTOS | VETERINARY ASSISTANT, RVT STUDENT

Mackenzie joined Stone Ridge Animal Care in 2021 as a veterinary assistant. She attended Purdue University and is currently enrolled in Penn Foster’s Veterinary Technician program. Mackenzie has prior experience from working at other clinics in the area and her favorite part about veterinary medicine is diagnostic imaging.

Mackenzie is married and has 2 beautiful children, Ambrus and Dayanara. When she is not working at the clinic, she stays busy with breeding and showing American Bullies, as well as hanging out with her two cats, Marley and Tiki, and her reptiles.


KAYLA HANSEN | RVT

Kayla graduated from Owensboro Community and Technical College in 2021 and just recently started working at Stone Ridge Animal Care in March. Her passion for veterinary medicine began in 2015 while job shadowing at a veterinary clinic in her hometown in Illinois.

Kayla enjoys spending time at home with her husband and her pets when she is away from work. She has two dogs, Chief and Jasper, two rats, Willow and Wendy, and a cat named Cinnamon.


ALEXIS GARRIS | CLIENT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Alexis graduated from Gibson Southern High School in 2021 with a concentration in Animal and Veterinary Science. She has a lot of experience with cattle and grew up owning horses. Alexis just recently joined the Stone Ridge Animal Care team this year.

Her favorite pastime is participating in equestrian Three-Day Eventing which includes dressage, cross country, and show jumping. In addition, she helps in the rehabilitation of retired race horses. Alexis owns two horses, Tyr and Persephone, and a dog named Nyx.


EMMA JOHNSON | CLIENT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Emma was raised in Posey County, IN. She showed dairy goats in 4-H and worked at a farm store in high school which lead her to the veterinary field. Emma has been with Stone Ridge Animal Care since 2020 as a CSR, her favorite part of her job is greeting clients and their pets at the front desk. She also enjoys poking fun at Dr. Helms whenever possible.

When Emma is not at the clinic she loves spending time with her pup, Daphne, and her cat, Matilda, along with her family’s goats.
